Nearly twenty years ago, Portland Buy Local was founded with a mission to champion and celebrate Portland’s incredible local, independent businesses. During the pandemic, we faced challenges, but a dedicated group of volunteers ensured our mission continued. In the past few years, we’ve launched a brand-new website, hosted educational events, boosted our social media presence, and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
And now, we're at an exciting point of opportunity!
We have openings for both board members and volunteers. We're looking for passionate individuals to help us realize our big ideas for promoting Portland’s local, independent business community. These ideas have the potential to make a real difference for our community, and we need your time, talent, and enthusiasm to bring them to life! Psst ...one of them we’re soooooo excited about and can’t wait to be able to share it.

Join Our Board of Directors - We’re a working board and we’re seeking people who can dedicate approximately 5-8 hours a month to guide our organization forward. Board members attend monthly meetings and contribute to strategic projects and operation tasks that keep us going and strengthen our mission.
Volunteer with Us - We also need volunteers who can give 5 to 8 hours a month to support our daily operations. Volunteers assist with:
Local business research and storytelling
Content creation — blogs, social posts, and video
Sponsor support and community partnerships
Fundraising and event planning
