No May minutes to review

Susan reported on the transition of board members off the board and the election of new officers.

Stacy asked who would be willing to learn the basics of the website so that we have 3-4 people going forward who know how to post events, create new highlights, and handle membership questions. She will set up a training session with c3c2. She also inquired about a photo editing website Emily could use on her PC and there were lots of suggestions for PC – picasa, photmonkey, etc.

Stacy gave website stats for June 2011- June 2012. We see our highest traffic around Indie Biz and the holidays. Perhaps summer is a good time to try to get the word out about the website and get these numbers up during that time of year.

Membership: Nothing big happening right now; the big drive is over and members are getting their directories. Danielle reported on the Mixer at Tsunami Tattoo on June 19th and asked the board to try to come out as the last mixer had low attendance.

Mary and Danielle have set the date for Indie Biz – October 3rd at One Longfellow Square. A call for volunteers is going out in the newsletter. Coffee By Design has come forward as the main sponsor. Bill said they don’t have a set budget but we are expecting Indie Biz to bring in $3000 or so.

Marketing: T shirts will arrive soon and be for sale at the different locations (Portmanteau, CBD, Longfellow Books) starting on June 22nd. Independents week is shaping up; Emily will ask boardmembers to volunteer for a shift under the tent. We talked about the language around the Buy Local Bucks and concluded that we don’t need to call it a Cash Mob but just let people know that we’re going to hand out Buy Local Bucks all day (200 maximum) and get the word out about supporting the farmers. Greendrinks will spread the word for us, and we’re putting it in the newsletter and on the website.

Volunteers: Emily reported that PDD will be delivering new directories to our members who fall within their districts. Buy Local volunteers have committed to delivering to the rest of our members. Distribution is going smoothly. Joan wanted to stress the importance of the volunteer taking the time to speak with someone at the members business.
