Metalsmith Jen Nielsen’s work showcases the organic beauty of stones that have been tumbled and polished by the steady rhythm of waves along the shores of Maine. At low tide, she carefully selects each one for its unique color, size, and shape at pebble-strewn beaches near Portland. Custom creations can incorporate pleasing stones that traveled home in your pocket from a special place, or become the signature jewels that adorn a bride and her wedding party. Each delicate selection is wrapped in a ribbon of sterling silver or 18K gold to become part of a larger piece or exist luminously on its own. Because nature has a will of its own when creating beach pebbles, no two of Jen’s pieces are exactly alike. Her studio’s deeply rooted social and environmental ethics mean customers are not only investing in the works of a talented craftswoman, they are supporting an artist who shares their core beliefs.
Custom commissions using your found pebbles or outdated heirloom jewelry are always welcome. Call or email for an appointment.
