Portland‘s Downtown District (PDD) was established in 1992 and is a non-profit 501c(4) organization. PDD acts as a leader and facilitator in the support and promotion of the economic vitality of downtown Portland and is funded by a special tax assessment on properties within the boundaries of the Old Port and Arts District to be used within PDD and is governed by annually elected property owners and business owners.
PDD produces events throughout the year including the Old Port Festival and Alive at Five Free Concert Series in the summer months. During the holiday and winter season, we present the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, Merry Madness, Shop for a Cause Day, Pandora LaCasse’s Holiday Light Sculptures, and Midwinter Festival.
PDD also produces a printed, online and mobile downtown directory of shops, services, museums and galleries and more at www.portlandmaine.com
